Senior Boys Basketball

Crusaders hard fought season comes to an end.

Last night the Crusaders season came to a halt against their rivals from Regi. After a low scoring first quarter the Panthers exploded to take an 11 point lead at the half. The Crusaders closed the gap back to 35-33 in the fourth quarter, but key free throws locked the game up for Regi. The Crusaders fought hard throughout the season, compiling a 5-6 record, with a number of the losses being very close, hard fought games. Holy Cross should be looking forward to next season with a number of returning players including Cameron McCauley, Connor Shkimba, Corey Flude, Derek Fox, Matt Clancy, Pat Pospisil, Tigh Chapman and Trevor Reade. Good luck next season.

Holy Cross downs Q.E.C.V.I in regular season finale.

The Crusaders finished the Senior Boys Basketball season on a high note with a 64-54 victory over the Q.E. Raiders. The game was tight in the beginning but the Crusaders began to pull away in the second quarter and had a 9 point lead at the half. Holy Cross came out on fire in the third quarter and extended their lead to 20, but the Raiders closed the gap back to 6 points midway through the fourth quarter. The Crusaders managed to stop the Raiders the rest of the way and held on for the 10 point win. Good job Crusaders and good luck in the playoffs.

Crusaders hold off Golden Eagles

Last night the Crusaders managed to hold off the resilient Golden Eagles on route to a 54-51 victory. The Crusaders dominated the paint early and jumped out to a 12 point lead at half time. Holy Cross came out a little flat in the second half and Sydenham quickly closed the gap and eventually took a one point lead 51-50. Clutch foul shots down the stretch by Tigh Chapman and Connor Shkimba locked up the 54-51 victory for the Crusaders.

Crusaders Split Games with Panthers at Memorial

Last night, the annual Peter Carty Memorial took place at Regiopolis-Notre Dame. Both Regi and Holy Cross had their girl’s basketball players helping out with the fundraising. There was t-shirt sales, 50/50 draw, silent auction, toonie toss, ticket sales, and food canteen. The Memorial was a great success, in total they raised over 12 000 dollars for cancer research. The Holy Cross Juniors triumphed over Regi Juniors. The final score 63-40. Unfortunately the Holy Cross Seniors lost the battle. The next senior game is Tuesday February 2nd at Holy Cross.
