From February 21st to 24th, 2012, the Crusader Bands will be participating in the Annual Kiwanis Music Festival.Our competing bands include: the Junior Concert Band; the Jazz Ensemble; the Symphonic Band; and the Senior Wind Ensemble.
Genesis Awards
The Genesis Awards, a gala evening celebrating student achievement in the arts and offering a retrospective of the department’s artistic undertakings this school year, will take place on Wed. May 23rd, 2012 at the school. Don’t miss this opportunity to recognize and share the outstanding work of our student artists in music, visual arts, dramatic arts, vocal music, guitar, photography, and audio/video productions. The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. Join us for this exciting arts department event.
Year End Band Trip
On Wednesday April 18th, the Holy Cross Band departs for their year-end trip to Disney, Orlando Florida. The students will compete in various competitions while enjoying the warm Florida heat. This trip is set out in reward to all the students efforts that have been put forth throughout the year, and a chance for them to show their pride in music through competition.
Trills and Thrills Music Competition at Canada’s Wonderland
On Friday, June 1st, 2012, the Grade Nine Band will travel to Toronto to participate in the Trills and Thrills Music Festival. The student musicians will perform at Agincourt High School in the morning and then will reward themselves spending the balance of the day at Canada’s Wonderland.

As a student of Holy Cross, there are many musical opportunities available. Holy Cross offers a range of musical classes varying from instrumental music classes, vocal classes and guitar classes. Each of these sections in our music program have accomplished and talented musical directors; Mr D. Orser and Ms D. McCombs for instrumental music, Mr.T Sicoli for guitar, and Ms S. Check-Drum for our vocals class. These classes are offered throughout duration of the students four years. The classes that are available for the students are according to the grade they are in. They correspond as follows:
- Grade Nine : Instrumental Music and Guitar
- Grade Ten : Instrumental Music, Guitar and Vocals
- Grade Eleven: Instrumental Music (Senior Band and Jazz Band), Guitar and Vocals
- Grade Twelve: Instrumental Music (Senior Band and Jazz Band), Guitar and Vocals
* Students from Grade Ten and above make up the members of the Holy Cross Symphonic band.
