| Jonathan LeBlanc- Winner of this year's most creative award for his Surrealism inspired painting "Breakfast". |
The class inspired by the theme of muse, inspiration is prevalent in the school's production of “The Phantom of the Opera”. Grade 12 Visual Arts teacher Mrs. Rae-Dalton describes how her class approached the task: “All artists have a muse. Our Muse asks us to be brave as we create. Making art is a journey and our Muse is our friend along the way.”
The students have captured what their “Muse” or inspiration is through a variety of mediums such as painting, sculpture, creative photography and graphic design. Grade 12 Visual Arts student Caitlin Kinsella had a rewarding experience exploring this theme “The muse theme is automatic for me, I don't think about it, it's just there.” Kinsella, along with her art student peers , were definitely inspired by modern artist Steven Shearer.
The Muse Art Show is located in the Holy Cross library and runs from November 30th to December 3rd. Over 1,000 staff, students, family and friends will have the opportunity to view the displays and be able to vote on their favourite pieces, the catergories are as follows:
