HCTV Presents...Flashback Video Listing

The Flashback Video Project brought a number of HCTV videos "off the shelf" to be displayed on the HCTODAY website throughout the current year to show current students and alumni some of the amazing work produced over the 25 year history of Holy Cross. These videos are listed below:

The double cohort was the result of the elimination of Grade 13 in Ontario. The 2002-2003 school year featured two graduating classes - those who graduated from the old system where Grade 13 was the final year of high school and those who graduated from the new system where Grade 12 was the final year of high school.

Organized by Mr. (Phil) Ridley, this year's drama production, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, became Holy Cross' best play yet. Eugene Conners was magnificent as Joseph and the beautiful voices of Jessica Gonzales, Finnie Jesson and Anna Marie Wilson narrated the story. The brother's antics brought the story to life, and the wives and dancers filled out the stage with great choreography. The band was practiced to perfection, and the chorus, which numbered approximately 60 students, including several from Mother Theresa, added the finishing touch. The backstage, lighting, and sound crew were right on cue. The musical was watched by over two hundred people (a performance), all who thought it was outstanding. With lyrics by Tim Rice and score adapted from Andrew Lloyd Webber, the music ranged from country and western, to reggae, to pure "Elvis", suiting everyone's tastes. The musical will always be remembered for the great times had by all. Thanks to everyone involved for making it happen.

Highlight video edited for the play at the time by play Student Technical Director Stephane Gagnon. Stephane graduated from Ryerson University's Radio and Television Arts program and he is now employed as Chief Television Production Engineer at the Roger's Centre.

This team had a remarkable season as they finished with a 26-6 record and their first ever KASSA/EOSSA Championships along with two tournament wins. This successful season laid the groundwork for the team’s unbelievable run to the OFSSAA Championship in 2002.

Team members were Dani McCollough, Julie Roantree, Alana Korczynski, Jocelyn Manion, Jill Holmes, Shannon Muldoon, Laura Desveaux, Laura Cooney, Amanda Piribauer, Jessica Piribauer and Ashley Kingham. Coaches were Mrs. Kelly Dixon and Mr. Alfie Demelo.

Mr. Ridley taught drama at Holy Cross in the mid-nineties and was instrumental in the production of the fine dramas and musicals presented in these years. He also coached the Junior Football Team. The young children at the end of the video are Mr. Ridley's son and daughter.
